Product Description
1. Product Overview
Pipe Repair Bandage is easy to use. Dipping the Bandage into water activates the resin. The Bandage is then wrapped around the pipework requiring strengthening or protection with further water used to smooth it down as the application continues. The Pipe Bandage has a work time of 2-5 minutes. A functional cure is achieved in 30 minutes and a full cure with maximum properties in 24 hours.

3. Product Operation
  • Once the leaking area is identified, shut down relevant pipes or hoses immediately.
  • Prepare the surface by cleaning and roughening the pipe.
  • Put on enclosed latex gloves.
  • Apply Steel Putty to the leak site and mould.
  • Open foil pouch and immerse bandage in temperate fresh water for 10 seconds, must be used once the package is opened.
  • Apply around the damaged area extending up to 50mm either side of the leak to ensure complete coverage.
  • Wrap quickly as curing begins once it is taken out of the water.
  • Whilst wrapping, pull each layer tightly by using your hand to mould and squeeze the layers together.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the pipe repair bandage activate?
The bandage is water-activated. Dipping the fiberglass wrap into temperate fresh water for about 10 seconds activates the polyurethane resin, allowing it to start curing.
What materials can this pipe repair bandage bond to?
It successfully bonds to a wide variety of pipe materials including copper, PVC, polypipe, metal, and fiberglass.
How fast does the bandage cure?
It features a working time of 2-5 minutes once activated. An initial cure is achieved in 5 minutes, a functional cure in 30 minutes, and a full cure with maximum strength properties is completed within 24 hours.
What temperature limit and pressure can the bandage withstand?
The bandage can withstand service temperatures up to 150°C (with a peak heat resistance up to 180°C). It handles pressure up to 450 PSI (or up to 8 MPa when applied with steel putty) with a recommended minimum wrap of 12 layers.
Can this wrap be used for underwater applications?
Yes. Because the polyurethane resin is water-activated, it is capable of setting and curing completely under water, making it ideal for wet environments and live leak applications.
Is there a requirement for preparing the pipe surface?
Yes, for optimal bonding, the pipe surface should be thoroughly cleaned and roughened before wrapping. Applying steel putty directly onto the leak site beforehand helps ensure a secure seal.
